Carol A. Barbour, MBA
Chief Executive Officer & President
Carol Barbour is CEO/President of Friends Life Care Partners, the holding company for the Friends Life Care Partner’s family of companies. These companies include Friends Life Care, the first and largest continuing care at home plan in the nation; Intervention Associates, a care management and guardianship service organization; and Friends Life Care Consultants, Inc., the consulting division of Friends Life Care. Carol was part of the team that pioneered the continuing care at home business model in the 1980s and under her leadership, membership in Friends Life Care has grown to over 2,500 members.
Previously, Carol served for five years as vice president of project management at FRC Management, Inc., the firm responsible for the development of the continuing care at home business model. Before joining FRC Management, she held several positions at Mid-Atlantic Nursing Home Corporation, including vice-president for planning and budgeting and assistant vice-president for operations. Carol supervised the daily operations of the company’s nursing home facilities in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey region.
Carol earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and worked for several years as a music therapist. She holds a Masters of Business Administration in Health Administration from Temple University. Additionally, she is a regular speaker at national professional associations on the subject of continuing care at home and has been featured in local and national media. Carol is vice president of the board of directors and on the risk management committee of the Peace Church Risk Retention Group and is vice president of the board of directors of Resource Partners, Inc.
Joe Conner, MBA, CPA
Chief Financial and Administrative Officer
Joe serves as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer/Treasurer of Friends Life Care Partners and its subsidiary corporations. As the CFAO, he is responsible for providing leadership and directing implementation for the financial, administrative and technology systems of the organization.
Joe joined Friends Life Care Partners in 2019. He brings over 15 years of executive level not-for-profit management experience having been the CFO at a biomedical research & development organization and a standard-setting organization in the electric industry. Joe received his undergraduate degree in accounting from DeSales University and his MBA from Jefferson University. He has also completed graduate level studies in commercial contract management from Villanova University.
He is a member of both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). When away from work, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, golfing, and regularly competes in various distance runs and obstacle course races.
Elise N. Lamarra, MS, BSN, RN
Chief Operating Officer
Elise Lamarra joined Friends Life Care Partners in March 2007. She serves as Chief Operating Officer for Intervention Associates and Friends Life Care, a membership-based provider of continuing-care-at-home plans. System-wide, Elise serves as corporate risk manager.
Elise is a registered nurse with nearly 32 years of clinical, administrative and managerial experience in acute care, home health care, hospice care and managed care. For the last 26 years, she has devoted her career to home care and hospice work, 24 years of which were in executive positions. Elise is a member of the Pennsylvania Home Care Association and serves on its public policy committee. She also serves on the boards of LeadingAge PA and Friends Services for the Aging.
Elise earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University Cincinnati College of Nursing and Health and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Development and Leadership at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).
Lisa Pettinati, BSW, MS
Executive Director
Lisa Pettinati started her career working in the first shelter in Philadelphia for homeless women and children. Her knowledge and skills expanded as she added more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health, helping individuals and families in crisis deal with mental illness and complex medical issues. Prior to joining Intervention Associates in 2014, Lisa fulfilled different roles and was promoted numerous times during her time working in behavioral health. Her expertise includes: management, consulting, intake and direct service. She earned an MS in administration of human services from Chestnut Hill College and a BSW from Temple University.
Deborah George, MSS/MLSP-LSW
Professional Care Manager
Deborah received her dual Masters in Social Services and Law & Social Policy at Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work. She has spent over 30 years in nursing and rehabilitation centers. Her roles have included director of social work, case manager and clinical consultant. And she has traveled across the tri-state area training and supporting hundreds of skilled nursing facility social workers. She and her husband Brian have four grown children and her new joy is her 3 grandbabies. She is a Deacon in her church where she also serves as the parish social worker. Deborah returned to Intervention Associates in 2020 after enjoying working for the organization in the late 1990’s. She is very happy to again serve IVA clients.
Anna Kozlowski, MS
Professional Care Manager
Anna Kozlowska has joined Intervention Associates with a background in gerontology and a passion for improving quality of life of the geriatric population. Anna has been working with a diverse population of older adults providing services and care management in the community, as well as in an assisted living, senior center, and adult day center. Anna also had an honor of assisting veterans experiencing homelessness access and maintain permanent housing. With expertise and compassion, Anna has been able to help her clients overcome crises and realize their goals in challenging situations. Anna has a MS in gerontology form Hofstra University, and is currently pursuing clinical social work credentials at Bryn Mawr College.
Judy Siderer, MSW, LSW
Senior Professional Care Manager
Judy Siderer has been a care manager with Intervention Associates for 25 years. She offers clients extensive experience working with diverse populations including geriatric, intellectually disabled, mental health, special needs and traumatic brain injury. Judy’s clinical expertise, communication skills, insight and sensitivity make her uniquely qualified to manage the most challenging circumstances. As Senior Care Manager, she also provides clinical training and supervision for new care managers. Judy Siderer earned a Masters of Social Work degree from Temple University and an undergraduate degree in psychology.
IVA is a member of the Aging Life Care Association, an organization of over 2,000 members required to meet specific qualifications and have proven excellence in geriatric care. Along with providing geriatric care services, IVA also has a experience in providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We are also professional members of the Philadelphia Bar Association, local Estate Planning Councils, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, The Mainline Chamber of Commerce and other advocacy organizations, such as the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) and Philadelphia Corporation of Aging, among others.
